Hi, I'm Bill Adams, AKA Texas Bill. I am living in the Dominican Republic and lived, for 4 years
in a small fishing village called Manzanillo (Pepillo Salcedo on the map), located on the
Northwest border between Haiti and the DR, right on the Masacre River. Presently, my family
and I are living in Santiago de Los Caballeros in the middle of the country.
I arrived in the Dominican Republic on 8 June, 2000 aboard my sailboat , Defiance, and
decided to stay. Good thing I did, because I lost the boat to a galley fire in 2003.
I retired from the USAF as a Captain in 1970, am drawing a pension from that, Social Security,
have a 10% VA Comp and have income from 2 natural gas wells in Texas, so money doesn't
present a problem in living here. In fact, I live fairly high on the hog, so to speak. I have a maid
(my niece Wanda), and a driver-man of all work (Vololo) on my payroll. You'll find photos of
them, myself, my family and others, too numerous to mention by name here, in the Photo
Section of this site.
In future updates, I plan to include additional pages and personal commentary about
observations of everyday life in the DR and it's history, which, hopefully, will include
photographic demonstrations of the commentaries.
This map of the Dominican Republic is an extra large Thumbnail. You should be able to
double click on it to view it. A symbol will appear in the lower right corner ; click on that to
enlarge the presentation. The "slide-bars" will allow you to move RIGHT and LEFT and UP and
DOWN. Have fun.
I've forgotten where it came from so I can't give the credits necessary.
